Default Can anyone offer some help, just lost power and car sputtering?

While driving home from work today on a back road, doing 40mph with the AC on I felt a flutter and the check engine light started to blink on and off. When I pushed the gas my steering wheel shook to no return and I had no power.

I was able to make it home but when I step out of the car the exhaust is sputtering and when I rev the motor it stutters so to speak.

I am freaking out as I just dumped over $3,000 into the suspension 7 months ago and now this. It's on 04 T6.

Could it be a cat issue? I can say that when I pulled onto my street where I felt safe to make it to my house I punched it from a roll and it hardly moved at all?

Can anyone offer some suggestions? Guess it's off to the shop. More freaking money. ARGGGGG

Thanks
Spankey

I just called my buddy who owns a garage and works on foreign cars and he said it sounds like a misfire. He said due to the check engine light blinking and not staying on fixed. He said if it was the cats or turbo it would be worse.

He said most likely a plug or coil.

Man what do coils run these days! I'm gonna be broke.....

Pull the coil connections one by one... if no change, you've found your dead one...

Thanks Guys!

Tech I wish I would have seen that sooner. My garage charged me $70 for the coil. It was needed over cylinder 1 throwing the misfire.

I also had him change the stock plugs which had 120,000 on them. I will be changing the other 5 coils compliments from your link to help save some bucks. I can do that myself can't I? Just remove the air tubes out of the way and remove the cover and that's it right? Entry to the coils are there?

Do I have to have anything done to the car if all coils are changed? Does it have to be timed or anything.

One thing it's doing now though is surging at full throttle. When I tromp the gas in traffic to say pass someone. It climbs to 3,000 holds a split second then jumps to 4000 holds and keeps going like that! I was reading some saying about the Turbo Regulator Valve could it possibly be something of that nature?

I do notice the car runs smoother and seems to be getting better gas mileage already with the new plugs......

Any links to the TRV at a decent price vs. straight from Volvo? Also should I maybe replace other valves such as PVC, and such? I found the regulator on the air box so I suppose I just have to remove it and install new. No need to reprogram or anything right? Should any fuses be pulled or such? Almost like a reset? I would like to do a hard reset on the car if possible. Could something like that cause the computer to relearn everything????

Thanks
Spankey

You should be able to handle the replacement.
Nothing needs to be done after installing them.

Thanks Tech you are always helpful along with many others!

Do u think the IPD turbo control valve will work on the S80? They don't state it on the site but in the PDF Instructions on their site it shows doing an s80? Would that mean it would? I don't want to order it and not work or screw up the car possibly!

Thanks!

I have heard of people running it on the S80 and not having any problems.
