Default Can I use a smoker to help me find the vacuum leak?

Hello everyone,

The progress on my 2000 S80 T6 is coming along pretty well. I replaced the ABS module and the car is stopping on a dime now. Next thing that I want to tackle is to find where the large vacuum leak is coming from. I replaced the ones I could see, but I'm sure there's a lot more to be checked and replaced. I do get a message every once in a while that my gas cap is loose but I know it's not , so I'm not sure if that is the J hose or not , but I want to fix the leaks before I decide to replace the TPS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your help.
p.s. the snow flake next to the outside temperature isn't working anymore, do those burn out?

The J hose fails on almost all of them, mine was just barely cracked but enough to get the vacuum leak msg. I would check that. Have fun replacing it because it`s not. It has to 36f or below for the snowflake. But who really cares if it works or not.

I knew about the temperature having to be at 36 , anyway , I'll order the J hose after the holidays. I'm pretty sure that there is more hoses to replace than just the j hose . That's why I asked about using a smoker to find vacuum leaks under the hood.
I live next door to a automotive repair shop ,they are usually pretty nice about helping me out with something if it ends up being too much.
Like I said before it's a solid car and put over 5,000 miles on it since August. I know I have a project car but seems to be worth the effort. Again thank you for any advice on this.

Smokers a good idea, doing the J-hose without a lift will have you thinking if it`s worth the effort.

That's where the garage next door comes in handy, they make some money and I don't have to lay on the ground . It's a win win. I'll ask them if they have a smoking machine.
Thank you again.
