hu-801 stereo problems!
I've got the usual "cd error" on my cd changer and I want to know what options i have to fix it.
Have seen on many forums people that disassemble their stereo after removing it.
So i hopped in, did everything with military precision according to any instructions i could find on the web.
However, when I came to the part where the climate control is to be removed, it just wouldn't come off!!
i've got the bottom part off but it really seems to be hanging tight on the top part.
I've tried every type of jerking and lirking according to every instructions i could find, heck even the full swedish massage, but it just wont come off!
Anyone who has any idea about how it's assembled?
BTW- it's a s80 -99 with the automatic cc

RE: hu-801 stereo problems!
There's no bolts holding it in just clips at the bottom of the radio. Pull the bottom out and down and it should just pop out. Here's a how to from Volvo VADIS.

By the way I just tried to fix mine. I just ended up buying one off ebay for $66 works flawlessly. I did have a problem to start with the new one. As soon as I hooked it up it said cd error just like the original one. I got it to work by unplugging it and plugging it back in "hot" while the key was turned on. I also read this in VADIS. Note the resetting of the cd and also the angle while doing so! If I had of read this before I bought the new one I would have tried this procedure first.

RE: hu-801 stereo problems!
I understand what your'e saying and I appreciate the help, but as i said before, i have already tried this and when comparing my situations to the pics in the VADIS, it seems as if my bottom part of the stereo doesn't come as far out as the one on the picture. when i pull out the bottom part it first hops over a bar underneath, and then it stops as if the upper edge is going to snap off if i try to pull it out more! is this how it is supposed to be?

Not sure what to tell you. Unless someone has modified it, it should be exactly as in the picture. When you say the radio doesn't come out as far on the bottom as in the picture did you mean your ECC, not the radio? Can you take pictures of the problem?
Here's a link with actual pictures on removal, maybe you can compare yours to them. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalVolvoS80.htm
