Questions about hu-801 stereo
My 4 disc hu-801 stereo stopped working and I bought another one on ebay which is out of a 2000 s80 t6, mines a 1999. So i took out the old one and plugged the new one in and it made a sound like the CD changer turned on but when I turned the car on then the stereo it did not power on at all, I got nothing. So I took out the new one and put in the old one and it worked fine. I waited about 30min and switched them again and nothing out of the new one. Do you think the stereo is DOA or is there something special I need to do to get it to work cause it came out of a different car like re-program to recognize the stereo? any help would be grateful. Thanks

RE: Questions about hu-801 stereo
if you get cd error messages then cd player is dead. i have a 1999 and bought a second hand one. plugged it in and couldnt post a cd. found a good working one. NOTE DISCONNECT BATTERY BEFORE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION. New one works fine. Didnt need any stealership software to make it work. all controls including steering work. they just want toget money from you and record serial numbers on which radio is in which car.good luck from Oz

RE: Questions about hu-801 stereo
Hi, I'm considering upgrading from a HU-611 to a HU-801, does this make any sense? I genuinely would like to have the centre channel speaker and the amp that comes with the 801.. however, would I need to upgrade my speakers or are they rated to handle the extra power?
Thanks

RE: Questions about hu-801 stereo
How hard would it be to upgrade my car from the HU-611 to the 801? Will it be guaranteed to work or will I need the software upgrade? ALso, did the 801 come with an amp and the 611 without? I really want to install the centre channel speaker and get a boost in power but I dont know how hard it wil be to do this..
Any suggestions?
Reason is i can probably get a hu-801 relatively cheap on ebay
