Default Check Engine Light, starving for fuel

2000 S80 2.9L (non-turbo) with 90,000 miles, replaced fuel filter, cleaned the EMT (throttle body and just a little bite of dry oil, no scrubbing was needed plus the ETM has a yellow dot on the front and side (read before that if it had the yellow dot it was replaced). On a cold start the car runs fine until it warms up (temp gauge at high noon), once it is warmed up it feel like it is starving for fuel (kind of like an old carb. Car would feel when you step on it and it would bog down for 1-2 seconds). Auto parts store plugged in the OBD 11 and said to replace the gas cap but they say that for everything! Could it be the PCV oil trap, is dried oil supposed to be in the ETM, how can I get a rear code?

if they said gas cap then it probably popped a p0455 code for evap. check gas cap for tightness then check cap seal for deterioration. then check evap canister hoses and evap purge valve for leaks. No you should not have dried oil in ETM. yes that means PCV is probably clogged. Often if you over fill oil it will be pulled into oil trap and clog up. next time have them tell you the code

did you check what I told you to? Was it the seal on the cap or was it a leak it the hose or the valve? I hope it's not the hose because that isn't any fun! Best of luck and hope you get it fixed.

no you do not have to fill filter with gas when you change it. you will prime the filter when you turn you key to position II. I would do this 2 or 3 times for the pump to pressurize it with fuel. It is a 2 min job. You can easily do it without jacking car.
