Default Cleaning Throttle Body

Tech,
I saw on here awhile back that you were explaining to someone how to take the throttle body off and clean it. I have a 1999 S80 T6, I know that I will need a gasket, but can you tell where and how to get to the throttle body for cleaning. Thanks in advance.

Follow the instructions in the link.

The only other thing that you might have to do is remove the pipes on the top of the engine.

Tech,
I was able to get the throttle body off and cleaned but that didnt seem to fix my problem. So after a trip to the dealership and $900.00 later, I hopefully have no more problems. It still ended up being the throttle body, but it was something that cleaning couldnt help. Thanks again for your help.

familyman, I was having a problem with it idleing right. Some time while stopping, the car would idle down too low and cut off. If I sat in gear at idle, it would flucuate between about 700 & 1500 RPM at idle then sometimes cut off.

Glad it's fixed.

I have a 2000 T6 and bought it with 100K. I had to have the "O" rings done, $800 but that's it. Mine will sometimes feel like it's throttle is not rock solid. It's hard to describe but when around 2000 rpm and not accelerating but just moving a long slowly it feels it's not staying at a constant rpm, likes it's soupy or sloppy. I told you hard to describe. I figure it's just a characteristic of the T6 ETM and turbo's. The car runs great and I like it.

Between the kids and work I just don't have time to do this myself, so when I ask the dealership about cleaning the ETM they aren't going to give this blank stare, like what are you talking about.

They should know exactly what you are talking about.
