Default Clear code

Hi everyone
I've got a 2005 volvo s80 t6. I love the car and paid cash for it back in 2014. My transmission just got rebuilt and the transmission shop tried but couldn't clear the "service transmission urgent" light. Can anyone tell me how to do this without having to take it to a dealer and pay an outrageous price? I've already tried the turn key to position one, hold down trip button until late 2 flashes and then turn key to position 2. I've used that method several times to clear service codes...mostly oil change reminders. However it's not working for this. The transmission is fine, a complete rebuild.

Thanks
Bexter

I would find it worrisome that the trans shop does not have the equipment to clear this. Obviously they didn't reset the fluid counters or verify the TCM software is up to date either.

You'll need to take it to the dealer.

This shop was referred to me by a trusted Mechanic. I have no doubt they did their job correctly. I don't find it worrisome at all. I have no idea what a fluid counter is. They did run codes on it and have told me to bring it back and they'll clear the code. I just thought if it's something I could do it would save me a trip back to the trans shop.

So all was fine when you left and the light came on since? That isn't a good sign either.

Sorry, but there isn't anything you can do. And clearing the code will likely be a band aid. It will come back on when the fault is detected.

No. The guy told me he was having issues clearing the message. I have a warranty. The message was on when I took it to him because the transmission needed to be rebuilt. I had to have it towed to the shop. I believe I asked about clearing the message not rhetoric about how you think I got screwed. Sheeeeze

Why not just take it back to the shop and have them clear it under "warranty" why even consider taking it to the dealer. It`s their job to do it right and apparently they can`t. Doesn`t that seem strange even to you? In the least they should pay for the cost to have the dealer do it. The only codes you will ever be able to clear yourself using the key method is basic service reminders

He was "having issues" clearing it but now bring it back and he will clear it? Good luck.

Dude, read what I said. They need to clear it or pay for the dealer to clear it. It`s under warranty and the job isn`t finished until the codes are cleared, either by them ( unlikely ) but give them another chance. or pay the dealer to do it. If they won`t, then take them to small claims court and force the issue.

Had my trans rebuilt by a trans shop, they had to take the car to the local dealer to clear everything out, this was all included in the price and they told
me upfront that is what would have to be done, still saved lots of money on the rebuild from them instead of the local dealer
