dropped a pen in the consol of a 2001 S80. How do I take the consol apart to remove it?

 

It is kind of a pain to get in there. What I would do first is remove the little pen holder under the A/C controls. That panel pops out. Then you can get the cover around the shifter off. Then I would look and see if you can see it. If not there is alot more to get the console out.

 

are we talking about the console just below the armrest and inbtwn the cup holder? I have lost several mechanical pencils & pens down there... lol is that bad?

 

basically you dotn need to remove the whole console probably,

remove the shifter bezel piece,
remove the ebrake boot,
remove the shifter position pad
remove the cup holder

its kinda hard to explain what to do because you have to do it by feel, when i removed mine i found like 5 dollars in change, batteries, 4 pens and some other crap and lots of coke and sprite stains

you never know what you may find in a used car's console, could be a lottery ticket even !!!
