I installed a rebuilt starter on my 2000 s80 2.9 liter.I can hear the gear spinning, but it does not turn the flywheel. I took it out and had it bench checked where i saw it working, so I tried again. I bought another one thinking it was a bad match and this one does the same.

my question is, why are the teeth not meshing and spinning the flywheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Hi, I really wonder why on these cars? I am facing the same problem, you know what, changing the wires come from Positive to starter and fuse box will solve you problem....I tried...one of Volvo forum person tried who helped me on this....but before purchasing new wire you can try AC or any other heavy duty wire to get start.
