first, hello all! new to forum, but not to volvos. this is my 4th volvo since i started driving. never really done my own mechanic work until i built up the courage throughout the past years. anyways, i just bought a 2001 s80 i6. i would like some help identifying some wiring under the hood. i think its ugly and id love to clean it up, just wanna know what it is first. see below...

this doesnt look stock to me...what plug is this? yellow wire? any ideas?


heres another, there is a cut black wire in my fingers. its connected to this plug. have no idea what it is...

aftermarket alarm/remote starter?

 

Since you mentioned it, I do get the service alarm msg everytime I start the car. It stays on for a couple of seconds then goes off and doesn't save the msg in the console. I wonder if its related...Sunroof still works like a charm too. When I lock the doors, lights flash. Have yet to try the panic button and I don't know if these cars honk with the key fob?

 

agreed its a remote starter
these things and volvos dont seem to get along too well
i have yet to see one hooked up and not throw codes
