Default engine oil

ok im putting this thing back together.. durring the cleaning i am sure i got throttle body cleaner, water, maybe engine degreaser inside the engine through the intake part of the head (where the valves are exposed) and also in the 3 breather ports on the case.. i may not have but just incase im going to flush the engine and change the filter.. sooooo my question is what type of oil should i put in this thing..thanks!

ps i have the new breather box installed and have all the gaskets and O rings and everything to start piecing this thing back together... hopefully it will start up with no issues fingers crossed!

depends what part of the country your in i guess.... down in florida with the heat and lack of cold we use 10w 30.. normally any full syntec.. .my brand of choice being mobil 1... they have the extended protection formula thats supposedly good for 15,000 miles.. i mean i wont push it that far but it gives you a little peace of mind in case you go over the regular oil change interval...

i personally love shell helix ultra but thats so hard to find over in the US

i wouldnt touch pennzoil myself.. heard to many bad stories.. not that i know for sure but i havent heard any bad stories on mobil 1... if you change oil regularly i think no oils would give you major problems..

Your owners manual will tell you to use 10W30 weight if you live in an area that is on the average temp of 85 degrees or higher..

I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance in my Lexus but I still change it every 3 mos anyway with filter..I wouldn't be fooled by the rhetoric of keeping Oil in my engine for up to 15,000 miles..that filter still gets dirty and sludge can start building up the longer you leave it in the engine.
