Never had a Volvo before so bear with me when i ask stupid questions!

When i open the door (any way) there is what i thought a fan sound, looked around and there isn't any fans on and no air blowing.
Asked the previous owner and he tells me its always done it, when i start the car i can't notice it anymore.

Can someone explain what im hearing - ohh and when i lock the door even from the inside the noise stops, could it be not normal and something to do with my other question about the lock mechanism/actuator/solenoid?

 

i assuem fan as the a/c fan? Mine at times makes squeeky noises when the fan is on low speeds.

not sure how to fix it.
