Hi there.

I just purchased my first Volvo ever; It is a 1999 S80 T6. The car is just about to have 130k miles on it and I know the previous owner personally. He never experienced any significant problems and he is the original owner. All recalls were complied with and all service has been done at Volvo dealerships.

Anyhow, when I test drove the car as well as when I received it, it seems as if the power steering pump is whining, sometimes louder than at other times. Especially whe the car is warmed up. I have posts here about the power steering fluid tank, and I seem to have a new one (no copper pipe?). I opened up the tank after a long drive (Boston to Hartford) and noticed the tank was under pressure and the fluid was foamy....

Air leak in lines? (-I tightened all that I could find under the hood, maybe on the rack?)

Bad cap on fluid tank? (- The seal had a deep impression on it, so I flipped it over.)

Pump Impellor cavitating?

Time to change fluid?

Any thoughts or advice?

Look folks, I know i'm new here and stuff, and if I missed some initiation or moderate hazing then I apologize.

But, someone here must be able to have some information regarding my Volvo issue?

my first plan of action would be to change the fluid an give it a good bleed after that your looking at air leaks blockages pump and rackwork id try the inexspensive option first and see how it performs
