Gen I S80 SRS help
I have 3 S80s in my family, and just looked at one last night. My wife's 2002 and the 2000 I looked at last night my code reader access fine. My wifes has no codes, the one I looked at last night had too high a resistance reading on passenger front airbag. I have check numerous other Volvo S80s, and my reader reads them just fine, too.
Here is the problem. I have a 2001 S80 and a 1999 S80 that the reader simply cannot read. The light is on both cars (I suspect dead batteries jumped caused SRS lights), but when I plug in my reader, it simply says "cannot communicate with SRS." I get no SRS hand-shake to reader. Both cars have no other codes.

I am desperate, I bought the reader to fix these type problems. Using the procedures in the above URL, is this safe on Volvo S80s to make the SRS system read hard codes, take light out, at least temporarily, and let it bring up the codes?
Is the paperclip between ODB port 4 & 9 safe on Volvo cars?
