Default Hard shudder right front

My 99 S80 T6 is now shuddering so hard on the right front when taking off from a stop, it shakes the dash. It does not do it when driving 40 MPH and up even if I floor it. Could it be the viscous coupling, and if so, how can I be sure?

Thanks,
Bill

Could be as simple as your engine mount!

If you're sure about the mount by the right tire, then it maybe the bushings on your wishbone. When was the last time you had the suspension looked at?

I replaced the right lower control arm and axle 8 monthe ago. It was shuddering before that but not near as bad. I had a friend watch the wheel as I took off and he said it had a rotational jerking, not up and down or front to back. The front end is tight.

Thanks,
Bill

If you think it is the coupling, you should hear a few clicks sounds with your wheel turned and going in reverse slowly. But it may also be your tire/rim. The rim may be bent. Rotate the tire to the rear and test it. While you have the car up, grab your tire at the 12-6 postion and then the 3-9 position and wiggle the tire. Any movement may indicate a suspension component to be looked at.

The suspension and wheel bearing are tight. Rotated tires already to see if there would be a change. Tires have been road forced and wheels are not bent. When backing up with the wheel turned, how noticable will the clicking be?

Thanks,
Bill

Do you know if it's possible to remove the axle and viscous coupling, and install an axle for an S80 without viscous coupling?
