Head liner coming off front pilars
Hi,
For Christmas, my Dad bought a new 2009 S80 and gave me his old 2000 S80 (Woot!!). I have graduated from college, have a job and would like to put a little money into fixing it up.
First, the mirror joystick is cracking which I figure I can get from a junk yard or something....but has anyone ever tried to fix them using gorilla glue or super glue?
Next, the head liner is coming off the front pillars around the windshield. I tried gluing it back down using some 3M glue for cars and it worked for about 5 months, but the head liner has come off again (worse than before!). I called an upholstery place and they want $250 to replace the entire head liner!! I think that is ridiculous because the head liner is in perfect condition, it just happens to be pealing away from my car. Now, for $250, I can buy a LOT of glue. Does anyone have any recommendations for glue?
Finally, the leather is worn on the driver's seat and arm rest. What is a resonable price to have those fixed or am I better off just getting a cover for them?
Thanks!!!

leather seats ? not much you can do but get new / junk yard seats,
arm rest, cal lthe dealer and ask for the price, unless you know how to hand sew leather
headliner ? more glue i guess, taking the pillar off might help it make the job easier, but i think that involves removing the whole console so thats crazy

I replaced the liner material on the front pillars. Pull them off, clean them well, and get the adhesive trim glue (3M) and glue new stuff on. Easy as pie.
Bought a new armrest from Volvo of Orange County, California. Google them, call them and ask for Ebay Joe in Parts... he will never do you wrong.

One of my A-pillars became damaged and I ordered a new (used/new to me) one from Erie recyclers in Whitesboro NY for $30.
I would hesitate on getting a seat cover however, as it may impede the deployment of the side airbag, which I believe pops out of the seam of the seat somewhere.

I live in N Fl and own a used car lot. I get headliners replaced all the time for 100.00 . I purchased the arm rest lid from Volvo for my 01 S80 for 55.00 I had a upholestry shop was going to recover for 45.00 but for 10.00 more went new. My drivers seat is bad have located a wrecked o1 Volvo he wants 150.00 for rear seat with little wear the man said and an upholestry shop is going to repair mine for 75.00 labor using cut outs from rear seat.
Check around on that headliner 250.00 is way to much If you know someone at a car dealership check with them as to who they use.

Hi schoppworld!
I actually went to a marine/boat upholstery shop. They had a sample material so I could make sure it would match the rest of the headliner and then they ordered the color that best matched. It wasn't perfect but my Dad (it was his car before he gave it to me) never noticed. I would definitely go to them again if I needed something fixed in my new S60!
Also, I apologize for the super late response. Hope this message finds you in time!
