something wrong with windshield wipers..
the drivers side wiper makes chattering noise only when going downward. it makes noise when wet i.e. raining ( weird) but when i turn the wiper on a dry day it doesnt make any noise. Just to make sure it wasnt the wipers blade gone wrong i switched the driver blade with passenger side and still the driver side makes noise but the passenger side (switched blades) doesnt chatter.
So now i think it has to do something with the driver side arm or something. I also sprayed some grease on the wiper hinge area but still no luck..
any ideas

hmm i dont think the blade is wearing..because i switched wiper with passenger side and it worked fine there with no chattering or anything. Also when i put the passenger wipers into driver side the noise was still there..so i am thinking it could be the driver side arm or springs or something. i will try bending the arm a little and see if that helps
i am not sure but i think its been about 2 years. i bought the car from the dealer (2nd owner) the wiper does have volvo badge on it.
So the angle changes could be due to age of the wiper?

Man, this really isn't this hard.
Get some new blades and let us know if you still have chatter.
The wiper arm to windshield angle is meant to be 90 degrees. If the drivers side blade is... say 85 degrees towards the hood, it will likely chatter when going down, if it's say 85 degrees up, towards the roof, it will likely chatter going up with worn blades. So, you can try twisting the flat part of the arm near the blade attachment and get rid of the chatter, or simply get some new blades since they are way overdue and you will appreciate the cleaner wipe and quietness.
