I recently purchased a 1999 S80, and the previous owner had had the driver's mirror shattered in a parking lot or something like that. He ordered a replacement for me in the right color and everything, but it has a green 16 pin plug whereas mine has a grey 10 pin plug. Is there any way I can maybe snip off the one plug and swap in the other, or redneck it in some way to enable the functionality of the mirror? I have read that there is often temp sensors in the mirror that will screw with the climate control if they are not working properly, so I want to try to avoid this if at all possible. I have basic Neanderthal soldering skills and am not too good at interpreting wiring diagrams and such, but if a capable scienceman could please explain to me if this is possible and if so, how - that would be great!!
the complexity of the mirror is what would make doing that nearly impossible.... sell the wrong mirror on cragslist and hit up a salvage yard.... If worst comes to worst you can color match the back plastic painted cover...
I had the same problem, I have an S80 from 2000 and bought a mirror from 1999. My mirror had a 16-pin green connector and the one that I bought a 10-pin grey connector. I took of the mirror glas and put in the motor of my old mirror (don't know if it's necessary), and soldered the green connector to the new mirror like this.
