Default heres my new 99'

im a new guy here but hopefully im not doing anything wrong by posting a couple pics of my new 99'. by that way what a great website its nice to have a place to come as a volvo owner as ive already found out it can be kinda lonely especialy since the only thing you can get for them at autozone is a set of whiper blades. anyway i picked this car up the other day.. i paid 7000 out the door (tax tittle tags etc) its a one owner car and all the servicing has been done and stamped in the owners manual. this car is in pristien <--SP condition. the only thing i found wrong with it is the little ***** for the bass/treble and the fader are not there and the auto dimming rearview mirror seems to be bad as its half tinted and half not. if someone knows where i can come up with these parts without having to go to a dealership id be greatful. would be nice to find a volvo swapmeet on the net for used stuff like the *****. even just a place that i can order oem stuff like thatwould be good i just dont want to have to go the dealership as its about an hour away. oh and is it possible to take apart the healights? like to take the lens off and clean and dry the inside and install a new seal? or do i have to buy a whole new light? one of them has some condensation in it and that always annoys me to see. anyways heres my ride.

looks nice, good for you, what color is that green or blue? try E-bay for the better radio system, did you get keyless remotes with the car? how many miles does it have?

umm its a green one.. have checked ebay for stuff havnt seen any radio upgrades. the car has 119000 miles. servicing has been done for all schedules including timing belt. i got keyless remotes and bought new battery for it but havnt installed yet. its got the blinking red light but have no idea how the alarm system works or anything like that yet.

I'm curious about that on mine also. Not sure if it is just a theft deterrant on mine or if I have an alarm? I read somewhere that the alarm senses things like weight shifting withinside the vehicle and some stuff like that. Not like your standard aftermarket style alarm that can be triggered by things like kicking the tire or pulling on the door handles, etc.

Also, yeah I like the color! I love the espically love the interior color! Mine has a silverish exterior (called Moondust) and a greyish-tanish color interior. I wish mine had the darker color interior like yours and I agree with you, in a perfect world the exterior color of my '99 would be black also. Cut-n-Paste the link in my sig if interested in seeing my S80 and BTW I bought it for my fiance', hence the Flower steering wheel cover...lol...I love driving it though!

Hey man, you car actually reminds me of mine...
Mine is a 02 S80 2.9... i boght high mileage (97000) and got it on the road for 7800 cash.... pretty good condition if you ask me..

I couldnt help but notice you had a remote in the car, im guessing its for your gate and so on? Does your car have the homelink system? Do you see 3 buttons on the drivers visor? If so you can just program this with your remote so you dont have to keep it with you... the manual explains it all

also similar to me , you put an aftermarket gps... i went with the garmin nuvi 600 from amazon... 307 dollars free shipping when i bought it! nice deal ha

I mean Garmin Nuvi 650, my bad... mental shutdown for a second....

anyway, i wonder sometimes if i should have gone for a t6... i just kept reading that it was more maintainance cost.. which it would be plus the transmissions tended to give more trouble... i could have done with the ~70 or so extra horses though

How do you like the Garmin? I have an Alpine Blackbird and absolutely love it. I went with the Alpine because I have a docking station in my glovebox of the Explorer that integrates it into my 7" Alpine Touchscreen DVD HU. I can pop it out of there if we are taking one of the cars and stick on the windshield mount in whatever car we are taking which is nice. But, I have been considering buying another GPS for the car alone so if I'm gone the girlie can use her own to find her way around. I have heard good things about Garmin and I'm sure not gonna drop another $500 on another Alpine.

Well I always knew garmin to be the big name in the business but i still chose to shop around... apparently magellan has the most features but Garmin is the most intuitive and best mix between ease of use/features...
What i did was this, went to walmart, and bought a nuvi, used it for a trip to miami and then decided i was sufficently impressed to return it and buy a way better model from amazon for less haha...

Really though, dont buy it in a store if you plan to, go the online route... Theres also the garmin streetpilot but i chose the nuvi just because of its TINY size, easy to pop off in a second and put away or in your pocket... i dont leave it unattended as I dont want people breaking my windows to get to it at all.. The garmin has been almost entirely flawless for me.. one or 2 small errors about retial locations that have since closed down or it gave me an adres for IHOP that was across the st from where it really was, but small things like that.. otherwise.. absolutely superb! The 650 is the 4.3" widescreen one which is why i went for it... im a big guy with big fingers so the bigger the screen the better

Goodluck with your choice, hope you love whatever you pic

The nuvi 660 is on sale on amazon right now, its the same as mine but with a larger internal memory and bluetooth for your phone and so on... check it out, superb buy if you ask me.. and its only 3 dollars more than mine right now

by the way, its the bestselling electronic item on amazon right now, so if you plan to get one, id suggest you act FAST

if you want to do what i did and take one for a trial run in walmart, ul end up with the nuvi 350 most likely... same thing really, just 1.3 inch smaller screen
amazon has it for about 60 less
