Talking hood strut replacement

I have ordered 2 new hood struts for my 2001 S80, as the ones on the car are shot. Any easy tips for installation, or just support the hood, pop off the old ones and on with the new ones?

Thanks!

If this is anything like my other car, which I'm not sure if it is or isn't... you're going to have fun getting them compressed.

Default installing hood struts

In looking at the new ones, it looks like they just "pop on" and are held by a small metal retainer. Anyone know if that is correct or not???

Default replacing hood struts

Yep! As long as the hood is all the way up (so you don't have to try to compress the new struts) the old ones will snap off, and the new ones right back on.....just have to make sure the little "snap ring" latches on the new ones. Did mine today......simple.
