Can anyone tell me how to turn off my service light? I'd rather not take it to the dealer just to have them turn it off. I have a 2001 Vovlo S80 2.9

The service light just came on this week and when I called the dealer they told me it was no big deal and it's normal maintenance which was a relief since I just had the "O" ring job done. I told them I had just had the car in 2 weeks ago for the "O" ring change and they had changed the oil but they said unless I specifically asked for the service check it won't had been reset. They also stated it included not only an oil change but a "bumper-to-bumper" check of car, whatever.

I'm glad it wasn't anything big and I didn't have to pay for the "bumper-to-bumper" checkup.

But they should have reset the light.It is supposed to be done everytime they change the oil.
It is part of the routine.

 

When I click on the website you furnished on 6/29, it takes me to the S40 Volve site. The procedure I tried did not reset the serive light. I have an S80 2000.

 

You might have to do it a couple of times.
It is the same for all of the Volvo models from 1999 to present.
