Hi everyone.

I own a 1999 Volvo S80 T6. When I bought the car it already had a "Transmission Service Required" message. I contacted the last Volvo service garage that worked on the car and they said they couldn't find any problem whatsoever with the transmission.

I've been driving the car for more than 6 months now and I had no problems at all. Now that I'll be moving to another country I need to sell the car but this has been keeping buyers away. I went to a Volvo local garage and they said they'd charge me a minimum of $300 for clearing the message because I'd basically have to pay for the labour work of actually checking the transmission (which was already done by the other Volvo garage!).

So, my question is: how can I reset the Transmission Service Required message?

P.S. - By the way, if anyone's interested the car has 123k and I'm asking $8000. Price is negotiable.

 

If you are selling the car for that much with that kind of mileage, it would be of worth to you to be able and show potential buyers that you have legitimate mechanics look the transmission over and give it a clean bill of health. $300.00 sounds like WAY to much money for that. I would try and find an independent garage that works on Volvo's and get a quote from them

 

I had that problem in my car the transmision service required and it was a sensor it was the output speed sensoru have to pull the codes first to know the reason why the message is on the display...Is the ckeckengine light is on u have to check it cause my car run great but have the light and the message on try pulling the codes
