hu-801: radio/cd
the cd changer is jammed, therefore I am unable to listen, play, eject or load cd's into the unit. is there a way to have the unit fixed? or do I need to replace it, from my initial research it appears to be very expensive. any suggestions?
Pull the unit and crack it open to see if you can get to the magazine, My Endeavor had a problem with the in dash head unit eating the discs so before I went the expensive rout of replacing it I performed surgery figured hell if I break it I have to get a new one any ways luckily I could pull the magazine out with out too much of a problem. I would just have to manually clear the magazine every couple months when a cd would get jammed but I eventually replaced it with an afermarket head unit. If you can't fix it your self you can always take it to someone or just buy a new oe or aftermarket head unit.
My 2000 S80 T6 had a similar problem. This site showed me how to do the dis-assemly.
I dropped the torx screws and had a hell of a time retrieving them. The other issue I had was that the push ***** that control the bass and fade, etc. popped out when I took the face plate off. Of course it rolled into a crack and I lost one.
I think the other poor move I made was leaving the key on. I had to turn the key to put the gearshift into neutrral. Rookie that I am I didn't disconnect the power or turn the key off. So now my SRS (airbag) light is on.
Other than that
, it wasn't hard to take apart the radio. I managed to get the CDs out, but now the CD player makes a ratcheting sound everytime I start the car.
I'd love to know where the previous poster got a new head unit. I figure I could give it one more shot before surrenduring to professional help.
