I have a S80, 1999, which has bent its window regulator arms. Having been quoted almost £500 for a dealer repair, i am in the process of the d.i.y approach.

The regulator is out, arms straightened and ready for refit. However:

1. Will the arms be strong enough having been bent back into position? They look and feel fine to me, or should i consider adapting a thin steel plate to reinforce?

2. In refitting, what alternatives could be used in place of the original rivets?

Your help will be greatly appreciated..

Regards

Tony

You should be fine on the strength.

Small nuts and bolts.

Many thanks Tech...just the peace of mind i need to complete the job. Hopefully it will last, otherwise it will be an expensive day at the dealers. Although a second dealer gave a more reasonable quote of £340. Still a hell of a lot for a broken window..
