Default Just bought a 2001 Volvo S80 2.9

hello Everybody
I just bought a 2001 Volvo s80 2.9 a week ago. It has 93000 miles on it. I was wondering how long its fuel pump is expected to last.

Thankyou

My original fuel pump went out at about 100k - if you take it to a garage, make sure you bring it to someone who knows Volvos (no chain shops). It's a two-part pump system between split tanks with an access cap that requires a special tool... they all want to hack a home made tool to use, but it doesn't seem to seal quite right.

My Volvo 850's pump lasted 200K miles... Usually when pumps start to fail they draw too much current which in turn can fry the FPR. You can have a shop test the current draw to see if you're pump is on the edge or solid but most people find out the pump is failing when the car randomly stalls or sets a CEL for a fuel pressure sensor issue.

Why are you concerned about that particular component? To be frank, there are a lot of other parts on a 20 year old Volvo w/ 100,000 miles that are more likely to crap out before the fuel pump.

My experience - 1998 S70 never replaced the pump, had close to 3000,000. My S80, 100,000 and the pump is still pumping.

Any chance you can get records for the car? Unless they are obviously new I would start replacing vacuum lines, belts (etc), PCV, plugs, wires/coils, and oil, brake, trans, coolant, PS , fluids. All those are due/ past due.
Regardless, I hope you like your S80, fine cars.
