My dealer dont know jack
So, I used to take my car into the dealer to get stuff done as I was too busy with work etc. But no more!
I had taken my 99 S80 into the dealer for the CEL. They have it for a week and finally come back with replacing all vacuum tubes as I have small leaks. (They ran smoke through it they say) Quoted me like $1700
Well, I could be a mechanic but I have never sat down and applied myself and took the time (I build and maintain computer systems and have an engineering mind)
So, I got on this forum and read all of your guy's posts and had the code run at autozone. Said it was a MAF sensor. Ordered sensor.
Sensor installed, no CEL light and it runs beautifully.

P.S. I tried cleaning the old MAF with some sensor cleaner from autozone. I saw a post regarding its a waste of time. It is. Dont bother wasting 8 bucks, just get a new MAF.

Welcome............As some of us have found, skid the stealership and pocket the rest of the money in YOUR pocket when you order parts thru somoene else and either get a friend to help u OR DIY....

yeah man thats the whole point, dealers will try to rip you apart any chance they get, some of the stories out there are just insane
i was quoted 1300 + to replace 2 oxygen sensors and then on top of that they charged my 178 + for a RECALL that is free, i got my money back but NEVER GOT AN APPOLOGY!!! 2 weeks later i get a card in the mail, one of those automated response card from the dealer, it asked for me to do a survey, guess what i ripped those guys a new a-hole !!! lol
