I had an alarm problem that caused me to invest almost $3k from the dealer. First they told me it was my main EPU (or was it EPC or CPU? I can't remember. He told me it was the car's brain.) and it cost like $1200.
Two days later, same problems - randomly alarm would go off. Sometime when parked, sometimes it would even happen when driving.
Came back to dealer: Now it's the alarm/siren module. That was another $1000. What? Why didn't you tell me that before? "The codes were there, be we weren't sure." Ok.
I literally drove two miles and the alarm when off when I was still driving.
This time the dealer says it's the door latches. $700.
Did that fix the problem? Nope.
After losing my temper and drafting a nasty letter to Volvo corporate - I didn't send it, but I told my dealer "FYI, this is what I plan to send to Volvo..." They told me to bring the car in and they would see what they could do.
It turns out there was some faulty wiring in the front left fender. They had there best mechanic spend two days on it. They fixed it for no addition charge.
It was a royal pain in the butt. But, it's fixed now.

problem sovled
Finally the problem has been solved. There is a sensor in the car below the area that is used to store coins inbetwen the front seats so if you put too many coins there which I had doner the alarm gets activated. I removed the coins and the problem disapeared! The volvo main dealer told me that. That was the cheapest repair ever.
