I've read through many posts about sunroof problems and my problem has been talked about but I need some advise on how to fix it.

I just bought a 2000 s80 and I heard some rattling, ends up these two braces are not connected to anything and just jumping around. I've learned that they should be connected to the glass.

My question is what glue can I use and can someone point me to a picture of where they go. I've read they go on but a picture will make it much clearer.

The metal rails you're referring to are most likely the stiffners that run across the front and rear of the glass. It's important to have these glued on or else you run the risk of the glass flexing too much and eventually breaking.

It will (should) be obvious where the the stiffers should go once you get the sunroof removed. (pull back the accordian-style covers on the sides, and use a torx screw to remove two screws from each side. The roof then lifts straight up and out.)

I have experimented with a couple of different 2-part epoxies from the Home Depot that have given mixed results. I tend to have to reglue once a year or so. Maybe it's due to the heat here in AZ? Or maybe I'm not using the best exopy. Either way, it works good enough for me.

When glueing, i find it helpful to use a handful of spring clamps (again from the Home Depot) to press the stiffners down onto the glass while the epoxy sets.

 

both of mine came off long time ago, didn't put them back. Never had any issues with it. And I do use my sunroof too. My advise is to not even bother with them.
