Hello guys. I enjoyed reading some of the posts and wanted to share my new toy Actually it is for my wife.

Couple of weeks ago we got a 2009 S80 T6 AWD with 38,000 miles, executive package, 4 brand new tires and full warranty and maintenance till August 2014 for $17,500 from a private party.

Wanted your opinion on this deal?

So far, the only issue i noticed is driver's floor mat not properly secured...will probably take it to a dealer one of these days to take a look...

Thanks

I cant say about the deal- its really your call. If your happy, that's all that matters.

As for the car, I have a couple of years experience with my 2002 S80. Its a non-turbo- low option model that started out in a rental fleet as best as I can tell. then it got sold back to the dealer, then sold a couple more times when I traded my boat for it. One of the best deals I ever made! It has been my sons first car and now he is starting his second year in college, so I guess he has has about 3 years with it, and roughly 35k. It has 99k when we got it.

Moving forward, I have worked on a lot of cars in my life, never afraid to pick up a wrench, or tackel any job. I have done restorations, rebuilt and changed engines, transmissions, etc... in the 30+ years I have been driving, and I have to say, this has been one of the easiest cars to work on I have experienced. Its as if the engineers thought about making service somewhat easy. So I recommend that you should try to tackle whatever comes up yourself if you have the time and resources.

There are also some quirks- The lower control arms on the front are incrediblly poorly engineered the way the bushings are designed. the windshield washer pump is difficult to get to, the various engine mounts have crappy rubber, the plastic pivots the windows ride on are poorly designed and of poor materials. All the plastics in the car seem brittle. The seat leather looks like crap by 100k....

But I sill like driving this car, esp in the freeway, and I appreciate the solid body, and safety features, and the decent highway mileage (30mpg). If I could find a v70 R for myself I would trade for it in a heartbeat! Heck, I might even go for a V70 Cross Country.

Welcome and best wishes with your new car!

Welcome!

This is a great board with many, many members who are always willing to help with issues and chat it up with non issues.

I love my Volvo and seriously want to buy another one. Don't care to much for the new, new styles. I'm an 04 S80 owner and love the look of them......
