I just bought a 2000 Volvo S80 T6. My first Volvo. I'm normally a Honda guy, but I wanted something sorta on the luxury side with a little speed still. My questions are, first:

The power door locks on drivers side front and rear doors don't work. They make noise when I hit the lock button, but they don't lock or unlock (but pass side does). What do you think this could be? Where could I get parts? And how much will it probably cost to fix?

Secondly, the Check Engine Light is on (or service light?), and on the little screen on the bottom left of the cluster its says SRS - AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT. Is there a problem with the SRS system, or does it most likely just need to be taken in for a checkup or something?

Door lock assemblys are bad.

The SRS message means codes in the system.

Check engine light means codes as well.

 

Well, the CEL isn't the same as i'm used to seeing, if it is the CEL, its the ! with a triangle around in the the middle of the dash.

What do I have to do about the SRS? Can I just take to Autozone and get it read, or plug a scan guage into it, or do I have to take it to Volvo?

How much am I looking at to fix the door locks? Where can I get the parts?

Also I forgot, my gas door tab thing is broken so it doesn't stay closed, can I replace just the locking tab?

 

SRS has to be a scanner that can read SRS.

Not sure how much the locks are I usually just work on the cars.

Sounds like the hinge is broke for the gas door pretty easy to fix.

 

So you know how to fix the locks? I found the regulators&motors for about $700 total (for both doors) that sound about right?

 

That sounds like it might be about right.

They are pretty easy to replace.

I would look somemore though you might find them cheaper.

There is no fixing the locks in there. The plastic inside usually breaks or a micro switch goes bad from people lubing the locks.

 

I didn't mean to fix the current ones, but that you knew how to replace the reg/motor (the motor should be good right? since it sounds like its trying). Any possibility you could give me a quick walk-through? I've done plenty of misc stuff on cars from maintenance to engine swaps, stereos, tuning, and plenty of outter body work, but never messed around in the door panels with windows/locks etc. I normally pay to have someone do it, but moneys tight right now.

 

You need the entire assembly like you priced out. That is everything in 1

 

Not too sure but the power door lock, could a electrical contact problem. Had a similar problem on power door lock but on a different made car.
As for SRS, had a same problem with my 2000 S80 too. Tookit to a electrical workshop tohave it scanned and removed if nocodes are present. Cost about $100
