Hi,

a friend told me that someone tried to steal his Volvo S80 and failed cause 15 secs after starting the engine
and driving backward from his garage, the alarm system shut down the fuel pump and electricity and the car would not move.

then he told me in order to tow the car to the garage to fix it, they had to bring a lift and lift the front of the car in the air, cause since they couldn't use the ignition , they couldn't change the gear from Pto N, so they can push it back, so the tow car could tow.

my question is :
there is no override switch that can be used to override the gear lock in case something like that happen?

If you disconnect the battery the shifter should come right out of park.
