Ok, I am putting the rail on today and then putting everything back together.

Before, I start my car, is there anything I need to do besides triple check everything?

Vent fuel system? Vent something? Will the car act strange at first when I start it?

Just give me a heads up before I turn it over. Thanks guys, you have been a big help.

Ok it feels great! No blue smoke at idle and it seems to run a lot smoother but maybe thats the placebo effect!

Now the fuel filter which is in the mail.

My car runs great! Until.....the next CEL!

Thanks guys for your help.

Is it as difficult on the 2002 and later years that have the new style bracket? That seems to cut down on alot of work. No oil leaks and no smoke, but 105k service calls for the service. If the car has run synthetic since day one except when it was auto RXed is it possible there is no need to clean the system?

Yes it is easier. I would check it to be sure.

Default Question for Tech....

I was looking on IPD's site for the replacement "system" and found only 04 and later PCV systems. Will that fit the '99 S80 T6? I looked at Autozone, etc. Looks like most Volvo parts will have to come from dealer or on line. does that sound about right?

I just checked their site. They only have the o-rings. I was wanting to change the whole thing while i'm there. It has 118k miles. I have a list of items to replace including timming belt and CV axles. It has an oil leak. I have not had a chance to look where it is coming from but from what I have read already, I suspect the pcv system.

I just looked to That is so wacky. I would think they would have it.
9497454 is the vent box part number if you want to search by part number on the net.

Well I found the individual parts here : http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartsResults.aspx

Alot cheaper than $250 minus the hose claps if needed

Get the oil trap and the $2.99 hose. But I reccomend the volvo crimp style clamps.

2000 S80 2.9 non-turbo. Do you recommend breaking oil trap box and purchasing a new one to save from having to pull alternator, etc to get to bolt? You mentioned you cut a slot in a bracket? I could not find directions for the job on alldata. Do you have a set of instructions for replacing Oil trap and hoses?

Thanks,
Tommy

Not really any directions on paper or in a link. Someone might know of some but I do not.
I always break the old one out and install a new one. Yes I cut a notch in the bracket so I can install the bolt in the new box.

Unhappy

Hello guys! I've been reading a lot of your posts. They are very helpful. I have a 2000 volvo s80 T6 with 160K miles. Does anybody have a file with the process in how to replace the pcv oil trap? I cleaned the ETM a couple of days ago but my car still shakes and it feels like too much air is coming in sometimes and when I'm at a stop sign it feels like not enough air coming in .. like engine about to die or something like that. I've been dealing with this car issues for a year already. Parts changed: control arms, catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, sparkplugs, intake manifold gasket, alternator, battery, REBUILT TRANSMISSION, checked for vacuum leaks, brakes, put tires, new stereo, my goodness.. should I keep going? lol.. It's really frustrating sometimes when I fix something and then something else comes up! I've learned a lot about this car.. but of course I'm not a tech. I just need to see a paper with instructions in how and what to replace. Well, those are the symptoms. I'm ready to take the intake manifold out of my way if needed. Did I mentioned temperature sensor and shocks? .. I like the car and I like the fact that I'm able to replace parts but it's too much. Please let me know about the engine shaking. Thank you very much!
