Hello, I am new to Volvo's and I recently got a S80 T6 with the 2.8 turbo engine. Car ran fine when I got it but check engine came on and I'm currently trying to diagnose the problem. I have 2 timing related codes I immediately went to see if It possibly skipped a tooth on the belt. Noticed that the belt is old and cracked as well as it had little tension on the belt! I found out that the tensioner should be set usually in the middle "sight" (Depending on temperature pictured in the guide) Mine is not even close (pictured) Because of all this im going to do a timing belt job. But as I put the crank to TDC the cams don't line up with the cover. so checked to make sure the #1 Piston correlated with the crank marks and it did (pictured). The cam sprocket marks only line up with the cover when the crank lines up with those orange marks (pictured someone before me did those) Did someone do the timing job bad and put the cam sprockets on the wrong way? Or can i figure out where the Cams go if i pull the valve cover? Thanks in advance like i said i'm brand new to Volvo's! Cam doesnt line up when the piston is in tdc now the intake cam lines up when the 2 orange marks on the crank do.
