Default Please Help - Check Engine Light

I have a 2004 S80 with the check engine light on. Had it checked during a recent NC inspection at a non volvo tere store. The result was a statement that said (extremely small EVAP leak). It is not the gas cap. What would be the next few obvious things to check.

Have you left the key on while getting gas at all?

get a smoke machine and see if you have any small leaks. or u may not even have a leak. a sensor could be degraded and not reading right. or you could have fueled up with the car on. if it was me, id clear the code, find out how many drive cycles it takes to run that test, do it, and see if it comes back on. just make sure the cap is good, and its on tight.

I have left the key in the ignition at times but never had the engine running. Somtimes I leave radio on for occupants, but rarely. Does the key need to be removed from the ignition?
Thanks

I did reset the check engine light (had it done) and it took about 300 miles for it to come back on. That included highway and city driving.
Thanks

and how do you know that your gas cap is properly functioning? did you have it tested, or have you replaced it with a brand new one?
