Default Power Performance Chip

I have a 2001 base S80, and was considering getting a performance chip for it. I had a couple questions:

Does Volvo make an effective chip for the base model?

Having never used a chip in any other of my cars, is it actually worth getting one? In other words, do they do what they say they do, e.g. Better mpg, up to 60 more horsepower, ect...

Is a chipped engine negatively affected or hurt in any way?

The only performance "chips" Ive seen is for the turbo models. You have to send off your ECU to them and they reprogram it.

There would be no worthwhile chipping on a naturally aspirated volvo engine... The turbo models however can be chipped quite effectively by companies such as IPDusa
