Default rear speakers!

Hey everybody, Ive just acquired a 2001 s80 t6 and without installing a full head unit and system I am trying to install a line output inverter to my rear speakers to plug my RCA/Audion cables to an amplifier.

Here's my problem, I am having trouble getting to the wiring of the rear speakers. Without paying out the butt for installation, I was going to see if anyone here could be of any help! thank you so much.

And whats under the speaker screen on my upper middle dash?

Welcome to the forum Turbster.

You have to fold the back seats down to get to the wires. Check out this thread, It should solve your question. https://volvoforums.com/m_19530/tm.htm

I'm pretty sure mine has a speaker under it. I haven't looked down there yet but my factory radio does have a "center speaker" adjustment for Dolby Digital mode? I believe you splice the line output into your rear speaker wires. I think the passanger side is the "brown wires", at least that is what I read somewhere. I also have an amp, subs and line level output inverter all ready I just haven't had the time to hook it all up yet.

a guy at best buy looked on his comp and told me that both speakers are the gray wires - all the others are orange anyway - but i have the wires spliced but not cut - is that right!? and my inverter wires are tied around the exposed speaker wire.
Now I have got everything hooked up, as well as my remote wire, but i could be wrong on that one. How do i know which wire the remote one is?

my problem: ive got nothing - someone check my work, then i might just have to make sure its not my amp. Thanks

I can tell you for sure that if you had the HU-801 headunit you would have a centre speaker under that grille....
If you have the HU-611 (as I do) it is just that.. a grille that makes people think you have a speaker under it haha

Thing is, from the moment I got the car the grille has been a bit loose and when im really pushing the car to the limit, flying around corners etc, the grill may actually lift off and fly accross the dash or onto the seats... minor trouble which I could easily remedy if I cared to....
I just wish there was a simple way to upgrade to the centre channel speaker configuration...

PS. Does anyone know what brand speakers are stock in the s80's? Iv always wondered about this, as the volume isn't amazing but the sound quality is top notch.... (naturally also dependent on the amp and HU)

Thanks

as far as i know they are dolby surround. but that could very well be only in the HU-801.

does anyone know which wire in the trunk bundle is the remote power wire? i have having trouble getting power to my amp.
i believe i have everything else wired properly.

~ On my Mustang I did the same thing as you are doing (and I will be soon) as far as installing and amp and using everything else stock in the system. For the remote wire on my Mustang what I did was ran a wire to my fuse box (the one by the drivers side door on the S80), stripped the remote wire end and wrapped it around the fuse that is used for the radio.
