Default Repair/Removal Front seat skin

2003 S80 2.9 trim code 8991

The drivers seat of my s80 has a hole in the upper seat skin.....caused by my wife's insistance on not taking her purse off of her shoulder prior to getting in the car.....she's untrainable!!!

I purchased the front seats complete, out of a 2000 S80 with the same trim code. Purchased on E-Bay..$225 including shipping to house....sitting in the garage waiting.......a whole lot less expensive than to purchase the skins from Volvo or to have the local upholstery shop manufacture and install a new panel for the area that has the hole.

A couple of questions.

1. The 2003 s80 seats are heated. Are all s80 seats in those model years equiped with the heating module?

2. I need to be pointed in the right direction on "HOW TO" remove the leather from the seats to include head rest?? I know that the seats have the SIPS airbag...and, know how to disengage the circuit & ground to render safe to work on.

My plan is to either swap out the driver seat complete****OR**** change the seat skins.....it doesn't look that difficult.....but gotta tell ya, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to remove the head restraints for starters.

Thanks..........arizonapinks

1. Not all S80's have heated seats.

2. The 90 model Volvos have hook rings at the bottom of the seat, where it hinges at the recline. You can fold them all the way down or recline them far and snip the hooks, then peal the skin up some, then snip more hooks as you go up. I use zip ties to resecure the skin when I re-installed them. Wasn't necessary to de-activate the seat air bag because the trip switch is in the base of the seat and it would have to take an impact to trip/inflate them.
