Just got this warning a week ago- it only comes on when I start the car, and clears after 3 to 5 minutes. I checked the coolant and it's near the LOW mark, and was curious if I can use 50/50 antifreeze/water coolant, or if I needed to take it to a mechanic and get it filled.

 

No, you do not need to take it to a mechanic unless your not comfortable filling it, but it may have a leak, they tend to leak at the bottom corner of the radiator.

 

Does it require VOLVO brand coolant only?
