S80 glove compartment noise
Tech, or anyone who can help:
I have a 1999 S80 with glove compartment noise, now my new 06 S80 has a similar noise. I had the 99 into Volvo and they said they could would have to replace the glove box to fix the problem. I think that you, (tech) had siad that the problem may be the shock absorber for the glove box? If so, where can I get one online resonably priced, and are they easy to change. Also, is this a consistent problem with the S80's with glove box noise? Thanks for any help.

RE: S80 glove compartment noise
A friend of mine purchased a GM shock absorbers for his glove box on line for a really reasonable price. Though I forgot to ask him what site he bought it... I'm going to see him this weekend...

RE: S80 glove compartment noise
I had a similar priblem with my 2002 S80 T6. The glove box is designed such that the only contact points are the latch, hinges and two rubber stops that provide enough resistance to keep the latch under a slight load to keep it from rattling. After a while the rubber stops get compressed and allow the latch to start rattling. I put a self adhesive cork stop in the spots where the rubber contacts the lid and that solved the problem.
