Default S80 High Beams Not Working (indicator on)

ok i have a 2009 s80 and the drivers low beam went out (error message). passenger low beam worked fine and high beams (both sides worked fine). i bought a low beam replacement (H11) and went to install it and the wires in the wiring harness were brittle and crumbling (wires fine but bare places). i used liquid electrical tape to seal the wires and installed the bulb. now the low beams work fine but when i turn on the brights the indicator lights up (and stays lit) but the high beams do not come on. if i turn on the fog lamps with low beams and then turn on high beams the fog lamps go off like they are supposed to (if that helps). no error on the message center. i disconnected the entire driver assembly thinking maybe the wiring harness was the issue but even with it disconnected the passenger high beams will not come on either. it may be my imagination but it seems that the low beams are 'brighter' than before this issue happened. no other electrical issue i can tell. any suggestions / directions are appreciated...

Check the fuse box under the glove box. On my 2008 S80, the high beam fuse is #9.

Thank you blindkarma for the reply! I checked fuse #9 (which is the same place and number as your 2008) and it was blown. I put in a new fuse and it blew once I put the high beams on so I think the brittle wires must be touching somewhere and my new 'wrap' job was not up to par so back to see if I can repair....

This has been a Volvo problem for years, so much so that I think that Volvo ought to offer "Express Service" at a deep discount to owners (like 10 bucks a light, out in less than 30 minutes)
. I buy mine from IPD.. Naturally, I'm going to suggest that you buy all four and make a night of it.
