S80 Sunroof.....

S80 Sunroof.....
I've searched all over the net for the answer to this. Hopefully I can fix this myself and save a trip to the dealership. My sunroof on my 99 S80 opens fine, but when trying to close it, it will stop will about 5 inches left. But while in this position if I hit the switch, as if I was going to raise it, then it will close a little bit more. Does anyone have any ideals about this?
Any insight would help.
Thanks.

RE: S80 Sunroof.....
Me too. My 99 S80 behaves similarly but while opening the sunroof. Once I pull the button back, it opens until about 4-5 inchesremaining and stops. I have to pull the button back again to open it completely. It is like a two step opening to open it completely, doesn't bother me, so I'm living with it. While closing it closes completely with one press of the button.

Hi cdub. Presume that you're a Brit, as you call your problem a sunroof, rather than a moonroof)
I had a brief similar experience myself, but cured it by rubbing in a little talcum powder on the sunroof runners. Evidently it needed a little "lubrication" as the temps that we have here in Spain(well over 40 in the summer) seemed to have dried it allout, Also, I have this notion (from Lord alone knows where) that the sunroof has a "anti-trap" device, and it could be, that if the runners are sticky, it "could" think that there's something through it, and therefore stops?
Hope you cure it. Mike.

Hi 1999S80T6, as T6 4 me says, your S/R is acting exactly as it says on the tin. Volvo has designed it to stop short, and callthat, the "comfort setting" (I read the manual once) as there's supposedly less turbulance/wind noise in that position. You have to tog the switch again, tomove it fully back - NOT that I've (or indeed, my extremely vociferous, and hair-consciouswife) have noticed any great difference between the two settings. Bestest,Mike.

I complained about my sunroof not closing properly, the rails on the sun roof are prone to wear and it costs 900$ to have the rails on the sun roof redone, thanks goodness that this was done under warranty.....
Mine would allow air to come inside....when it was closed....
