Default S80 T6 (99) - Hard to start

Hi, Basically i turn the key, starter kicks in, sounds like battery is fine, and engine does not catch. I give about 5 sec. and try again. I have tried no gas pedal, some gas pedal, full gas - seems to have no impact on starting. Usually, when engine is cold it seems to catch faster, when hot, it seems to take longer for engine to start. Battery seems fine as i sometimes need a total of 25-40 or more seconds of starter to get engine to kick in and battery is still cranking. Once engine starts, drive is perfect, no other problems until i need to start it again. any ideas? thanks much.

Try the starter and fuel pump relays. Had similar issue when car was COLD it would take for ever to start. 2 x $25 dollar parts fixed the problem.

Thanks for the info. It ended up being the Crankcase sensor! Thanks for the assistance.

Default Crankcase sensor

yes, came up on the OBD system. Independant repaired it and also an old issue w/ the O2 sensor. I decided to have both sensors replaced. The check eng. is gone, errors are all clear, car starts like new.
