I have a t6 2004 with automatic transmission of 4 gear ahead. Any one knows if I can upgrade this one to improve the performance, actually it makes from 0 to 100 kms in 13 seconds, and I think it has much to be with the gear box. A 2.9 lts bi turbo with this performance?

 

Hello, I know a decent amount about cars. If I were you I would upgrade the engine horsepower before you change the transmission. Sometimes, upgraded transmission that are fitted to stock engines will tear up you crankshaft and that would be bad.

That trans is perfectly capable of handling more torque. Boost the engine to get the desired result.

 

that car should be able to do 0-60mph in 6 seconds, if yours cant get close you have issues to address with the car, on putting a different transmission in it, not oe will be nearly impossible let alone expensive and labor intesive, it takes 13 hours to pull one out if your a one man crew and know what you are doing, as to modifying it for performance, again goodluck, if you want a faster car from volvo buy an s60r, chances are you will screw up the car badly trying to replace factory settings

 

The T6 trans is junk. I wouldn't push it.

 

I think the main problem with the trans is it was never a good fit for the job, its supposed to be in a grand am not a turbo volvo... to much stress on it... these cars would be great with a six speed

 

It does decent in the S80. Not so well in the XC90. I don't think I'd ever call a P2 T6 S80 "great".

 

Does it not have the GM 4T65E?
