Default Service Info

Hi,

I have an S80 2.9 non turbo. I would like to have the timing belt replaced. How much should this this cost me? I live in Florida, so if anyone has an idea what the total cost in that state averages, i would appreciate it.

On a side note, what does a transmission flush cost?

Thanks

The prices might be a little off but here in orlando they are as follows
The timing belt service is about $300.00
The transmission service is about $150.00

They might be a little different in your area depending on the labor rate.

Got the following off the invoices for my 2001 S80 2.9 which was serviced at the dealer in California, hopefully cheaper in FL.

At 31671 miles in October 2002 power flush cost $102 labor and $7.99 materials.

At 63558 miles in January 2005 serpentine belt replacement cost $147 labor and $42.83 material.

The timing belt cost and replacement should be less as I believe there is less labor involved in it's replacement.

Man you got robbed on the labor for the serp belt.I should only be 1 hour labor.
The timing belt pays anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.
The timing belt is a big job.The serp belt is an easy job.
You have to remove the serp belt to get to the timing belt.

thanks for the info. Just for the sake of it, lets add in 1 more thing to the mix. drop the transmission flush and replace it with a serpintine belt. Whats that run?

Tech, your price is close to what was quoted. I think its a little higher for me because its not as big as orlando, but its close.

If you replace it with the timing belt most dealers include that in the price of the timing belt service.
If not it will be like $60.00 more for the part. There shouldn't be anymore labor because they have to remove it to get to the timing belt.

Turns out my neighbor is going to have his friend that owns a shop do it. My neighbor owns a motorcycle shop and has a friend that wors on volvos.

I am going to be getting a new water pump, serpintine belt, timing belt gaskets etc. He is subing the work to his friend at his cost and not charging me a dime. Total cost will be 370.00 including all new parts and labor.

He also has some $9000.00 contraption at his house (next door) that pulls all kinds of codes etc. He is going to hook it up for free because i am going to do some treework for him.

He is giving me a good deal on it because hurricanse Frances and Jeanne leveled the town i live in and i cut some HUGE trees down for him for free.
