Servicing an s80
I have a 2000 s80 with 105,000 miles, that has the service light on, my wife called the dealer to see what needs to be done to remove the light or how much it costs to get serviced, the repair man stated that the timing belt needs to be adjusted and that it would cost around $750, First, what's covered when my vehicle needs to be serviced, and should it cost that much? thanks for your response.
If they replace the timing belt It might cost you that much.
My Advise is to find a Volvo specialist in your area and get a quote from them.
See if there is a sticker under the hood the belt might have already been replaced if you bought it used.
Most of the time people change them at 70,000 miles.

Not required And looking up the Vin won't tell you.
You might want to take a look if you have a T-30 torxes. It will take you about 10 minutes to look at the belt.
Turn engine over slowly and look for the writing and first make sure it is a Volvo belt.
