Default Shopping for a S80

Hi, I am shopping for a '05 - '06 S80. For the most part I have been looking at 2.4Ts, but I ran across a T5. Are there any issue I should be concerned about with either one?. Does the T5 require premium fuel? Is the twin turbo going to require more maintenance, and is there a big difference in fuel mileage? I have been very happy with my 96 850, canI expect the same reliability out of a newer S80? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to find out what I am getting into? Thanksin advance for any advice.

There is no 2.4 or T5 in the S80, these engines were only offered in the S60s, are you sure you are not looking at the S60? Otherwise, for 2005 and 2006 two engines were offered, a 2.5T (2.5L 5 Cylinder Turbo) and a T6 (2.9L 6 Cylinder Turbo).

The S80s are very reliable in the later years (from 2002 - 2007), just stay away from the earlier makes. Regarding premium fuel though, really, you should be running premium in any of the turboed Volvos for best performance/mileage, and really in the scheme of things, the difference between regular and premium is minimal (usually around $0.20/gallon).

back in the day when a gallon of gas was 1.00, premium was 1.20.. now.. 4.00 a gallon and 4.20 for premium... so what was 20 cents difference for every dollar is now 5 cents difference for every dollar, hardly expensive in comparison. and the better efficeincy for your engine probably will give you that 5 cents back. and not to mention, no predetonation during acceleration or any type of boost situation.. no knock noticed, no retarding of timing, overall just better performance..
