start up problems '00 Volvo S80
I have problems starting my car after 2-3 start ups, I receive a message "start prevented try later" and the car will not start (turn over) immediately. After 1-2 minutes or several tries, it will start up again. What does this mean and how can it be corrected?

Hi Renee,
As no one seems to be responding to your question so far, I'll volunteer. But please note, that I'm an 850 driver and not much knowledgeable on S80.
I did a bit of research for you:
If you have another key, try it. It seems that the immobiliser system is not reading the ID code on your key correctly. If using another key does not solve the problem or if you do not have a spare key, visit a Volvo dealer in your area. This is something that is beyond the capability of generic garages.
This is none of my business, but for your own benefit, I would recommend adding the following elements for future posting:
1. Greetings (Hi, Hello, etc...)
2.Detailed description of your car (trim level, transmission type, etc... You can use the signature function and write it there; go to "my profile" function, you will find "My Profile" link at the top of this page).
3. "Thanks" or "Any help is appreciated"at the end of your post.
Please note that most people are volunteering their own time & knowledge here, so I myself believe in showing them respect. But this is just my personal opinion, so you can ignore if you like. I apologise if this made you annoyed; there was absolutely no intention to disturb you.
Anyway, good luck to you and I hope someone privy to S80 replies soon.
Regards,
JPN
