Default Starting problem.

S80 2000 T6, 140K miles, auto
Occasional starting problem which I have had for past 6 months since I bought the car.
About every other day when engine is warm it takes longer to start. Car runs fine once started.

Occasional code for cyl 1 and 3 misfire using PPC-BSR reader. Car seamed to spit back through intake when I accelerated to fast from a stop when engine was cold other day.

Car normally starts within 2 seconds. When problem happens it takes 5 or more seconds of cranking to start. If I crank for 4-5 seconds, let up on key but do not return to off position, it will start with 2 seconds on next try.

Just replaced fuel pump relay but did not help. Previously replaced battery cable with longer length and heavier cable to keep away from sensors and other wiring. Cable now runs from terminal on firewall over top of black plastic air tube coming from MAF sensor then goes down to starter. Added extra ground cable to engine. Starter bearings are in good shape and starter is properly grounded through mounting bolts and rear bracket. Heavy duty star type lock washers are used on the transmision bell housing to engine bolts to make sure it is grounded. Occasional jump of tach needle when starting but not excessive.

Also replaced crank (flywheel) position sensor (OEM part), Camshaft actuator solenoid (OEM), plugs, filters, timing belt & tensioners, water pump.

Throttle body and MAF have been cleaned. Re-wrapped engine wiring harness in new plastic tubing and tape due to heat aging causing plastic to fall off when I bought car. All harness grounds were put back.

And thoughts?

My problem fixed itself- it went away after a while . Try Tekron injector cleaner. You may also want to repalce the fuel pump relay. I did both. Replace fuel filter if you have not.
Check to make sure there are no vacuum leaks such as broken or fallen off hoses and plastic pipes. Someone here reported the large plastic pipe attached to the throttle body either fell off or cracked.

Does your car have any other symptoms such as check engine light and what are the codes?
Any stalling problems?
How does it run after starting?
How many miles?
Was the throttle body bore cleaned?
Did this start after something else was fixed?
Does the tachometer bounce when you are trying to start it?
Has the transmission or engine ever been removed?
Have you ever cleaned the manifold air sensor (MAF) coming off the air filter housing?
Are you running factory type air filters or hi performance oiled-felt filters?
