My sunroof wasn't working right. It would grind and pop when you tried to open it. It was only going up and down a little and not opening at all. Finally it opened about 2 inches and stuck there so I took the motor out to see whats going on. Once I got the motor out I started sliding the sunroof back and forth to see if I was binding up anywhere. It was pretty stiff at first but, after adding a little grease to the rails I was able to move it back and forth with one hand. My questions are how easily should the sunroof slide back and forth by hand and does the gear on the motor look worn down to the point that you would replace it?

 

I reinstalled the sunroof motor after greasing the track and getting it to slide front and back by hand. It now opens all the way but, when I try to close it you can hear the motor slipping inside the track. If I pull the motor out and close it by hand again it will open just not close. Any ideas?
