Default 89 740 gl auto B230F Vibration and Grinding. HELP!

Need help figuring out why the whole car vibrates. Right below the gear shift, clicks and sounds as if maybe metal on metal is rubbing. Could it be the drive shaft bobbling around and not secure causes the vibrations and possibly rubbing on the gear shift mechanisms?

Was told to change out trans mount because the trans was moving up and down. I did today. Smoother ride but still is vibrating horribly.

Could be the support boot "carrier bearing" maybe? Someone suggested the yoke in the differential??

All front end suspension bushings, arms and joint are great. U joints on the drive shaft are good.

But my lead opinion leans towards the support boot bearing..

suggestions please!

Thanks,

Chris

could be the center support bushing for the driveshaft. the 745 is doing a similar vibration. I haven't inspected the support yet though...

wait for the experts.
